Cartelta: payment-page security methodology
Cartelta develops JSIR for payment-page script governance, client-side change detection, and reviewable evidence workflows. Technical material is prepared and checked by Cartelta against current primary sources, explicit test conditions, and documented limitations; it is not presented as a QSA conclusion or a guarantee of PCI DSS compliance.
Methodology updated: 1 August 2026
Publication standard
Primary source before interpretation.
A reproducible procedure before a product claim.
Scope, assumptions, and limitations remain visible.
The modification date changes only after substantive review.
What Cartelta works on
The scope is intentionally narrow: the browser-visible payment journey and the operating evidence around its controls.
Observed script governance
Connect scripts that actually execute to page state, loader, owner, business purpose, authorization, integrity method, and review history.
Material change detection
Define baselines, normalization, event context, triage, response, and closure evidence for payment-page and relevant header changes.
Reviewable evidence
Preserve provenance, period, stable identifiers, decisions, exceptions, and exports that another specialist can reproduce.
How technical material is prepared
Each guide starts from a concrete reader decision or control test. Length is not a completion criterion; the material is complete when the task can be performed and its limits are clear.
01
Define the decision
State the reader, environment, question, expected output, and conditions in which the answer changes.
02
Establish the source basis
Use current PCI SSC publications and other primary technical documentation. Separate a requirement, an implementation option, and Cartelta's interpretation.
03
Make the procedure testable
Add fields, pass/fail criteria, safe negative tests, evidence references, and examples that do not contain payment data or secrets.
04
Review claims and boundaries
Check terminology, internal links, dates, downloads, structured data, and statements about what Cartelta supports and what remains with the customer or assessor.
Evidence and correction rules
Official sources remain linked near the material they support; citations do not replace Cartelta's own analysis.
Illustrative records are labelled by context and never represented as customer measurements or production outcomes.
PAN, CVC, authentication data, cookies, tokens, customer identifiers, and payment-field values are excluded from examples and working templates.
Corrections are reflected in the guide and its downloadable materials, so readers can work from a consistent version.
Responsibility boundary
Cartelta can support observation, control operation, and evidence preparation. The organization defines scope, approves scripts and baselines, operates response, and retains authoritative records. Applicability and the final compliance conclusion remain with the relevant compliance-accepting entity and assessor.
Corrections and technical questions
Report a factual error, broken source, ambiguous limitation, or non-reproducible step. Include the page URL and the statement or procedure that needs review; do not send payment data, credentials, or customer identifiers.
